What it is

Laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment inside the follicle. The energy converts to heat, damages the follicle, and reduces what grows back.

It only works on hair in its active growth phase, and only a portion of your hair is in that phase at any time. That is the entire reason it takes six to eight sessions rather than one — not an upsell.

Modern devices treat all skin types safely with adjusted wavelengths and cooling. Grey, white and very fine blonde hair remain the genuine limitation, because there is no pigment to target.

Good candidate

  • Dark hair, any skin tone
  • Tired of shaving or waxing
  • Ingrown hairs and razor bumps
  • Can commit to a full course

Not yet / not a fit

  • Grey, white or very light blonde hair
  • Active tan
  • Pregnant
  • Recent isotretinoin use

How it works

Diagram showing hair follicles in different growth phases
01

Hair grows in cycles

Only follicles in the active growth phase can be treated, and they are never all active at once.

02

Energy targets the follicle

Laser light is absorbed by pigment in the hair shaft and converts to heat at the root.

Regrowth reduces each round

Each session catches a different set of active follicles, which is why the course matters more than any one visit.

What to expect

Step 1

Step 01

Consultation

Free. Patch test, skin-type assessment and a session plan for your area.

Step 2

Step 02

Shave, do not wax

Shave the area the day before. Waxing or plucking removes the target and wastes the session.

Step 3

Step 03

Treatment

Cooling applied throughout. Fifteen minutes for a small area, up to forty-five for large.

Step 4

Step 04

Shedding

Treated hairs shed over one to three weeks. Return every four to six weeks.

Questions

Is it actually permanent?

It is permanent reduction. Most people end up with a large and lasting decrease in density, plus occasional maintenance sessions. Anyone promising total permanent removal is overstating it.

Is it safe for darker skin?

Yes, with the right wavelength and cooling. The risk comes from wrong settings, not from skin tone. We patch test first, every time.

Why so many sessions?

Because only actively growing follicles respond, and only a fraction are active at once. Six to eight sessions catches enough cycles to make a real difference.

Can I shave between sessions?

Yes — shaving is fine and encouraged. Do not wax, pluck or epilate, because that removes the follicle the laser needs to find.

Does it hurt?

A warm snap against the skin. Underarms and bikini are the most sensitive; legs and arms are easy. Cooling runs throughout.
