Filler placed in the tear trough to soften hollowing. The least forgiving area on the face, so candidacy matters more than technique.
The tear trough is the groove between the lower lid and the cheek. When the midface loses volume, that groove deepens and casts a shadow — which reads as tiredness no amount of sleep fixes.
A very small amount of filler placed deep can soften that shadow. The word doing the work there is small. This area punishes over-correction with puffiness and a bluish cast that can last a year.
Not everyone is a candidate, and we will say so. Sometimes the honest answer is that the midface needs support first, or that what you are seeing is pigment rather than shadow.
Volume loss creates a step between lid and cheek. What you see as darkness is often the shadow it throws.
