01 — About

Pigment is the whole discipline.

Shima founded SK Aesthetic & Wellness in 2024, after years at Austin-Weston, The Center for Cosmetic Surgery in Reston, working alongside board-certified plastic surgeons. Her work centres on pigment — scar camouflage, melasma, sun damage, and the kind of correction that takes patience rather than intensity.

Outside the studio she is the sister who answers the text at 9 PM when a patient is worried about a peel reaction. It is almost never as alarming as it looks.

04 — Concerns

What she treats

Pigment

Melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, sun damage and uneven tone.

Scars

Flat, healed scars that healed lighter than the skin around them.

Texture

Acne scarring, enlarged pores and rough surface texture.

Laxity

Early loss of firmness, using radiofrequency needling.

Unwanted hair

Course-based reduction, priced by area.

Dullness

Facials and dermaplaning between the bigger treatments.

05 — Method

How she works

Slow beats aggressive.

Her protocols are conservative on purpose. Skin that is pushed hard tends to push back — particularly pigmented skin, where an over-treatment can leave you worse off than when you started.

Same lighting, same protocol, same patience.

Consistency is what makes pigment work measurable. Photographs are taken the same way every visit so progress is judged against a record, not a memory.

She will say when something is not for you.

If a treatment is not right, or not right yet, she will tell you and explain what would need to change first.

06 — Your visit

What actually happens

01

Consultation, at no charge

We look at your skin under the same light we will use every visit, agree what is realistic, and put a number on it before anything starts.

02

A conservative first pass

Settings are chosen for your skin tone, not for speed. Pigmented skin punishes aggression, so the first treatment is deliberately gentle.

03

Photographed the same way

Same lighting, same angle, same distance. Progress gets judged against a record rather than against memory.

04

Reviewed, then adjusted

We look again before deciding whether to go further. Sometimes the honest answer is that you are already where you wanted to be.

07 — Scar camouflage

Not a laser.

Scar camouflage is a tattooing technique — custom-blended pigment layered into a healed scar so it reads as skin rather than as a mark. It is not a laser, and it does not remove the scar. It addresses the colour difference that makes the scar catch your eye.
